Cow Cuddling is a heartwarming initiative from Onkar Charitable Trust located in outskirts of Bangalore, at Sri Melanagavi Mutt, Shivaganga Kshetra, Kambalu-Village, Sompur-Hobli, Nelamangala-Taluk, Bengaluru Rural. The motto of cow cuddling/Cow Therapy to benefit people living with mental illness, intellectual disabilities, and anyone seeking to support their own mental health through direct contact with these gentle animals.
The Cow Cuddling therapy involves meeting, sitting with, cuddling, and gently scratching hand-raised cows on a farm. The cows’ slower heart rate and warm body temperature have a calming effect on us, leading to a slowing of our own heart rate. Additionally, this interaction triggers the release of Oxytocin, our social bonding hormone. Children enjoy playing in the water tub, over fodder grass, even enjoy the playing indigenous games with mud, Lakhoti or Kancha(marbles) and stones etc.
The cows raised here are desi breeds includes Hallikar, Ongol, Gir, Sahiwal, and Tharparkar, yield only A2 milk. etc Participants can also relish the relaxing effects of being outdoors on the scenic farm, even do go pooja, take blessings from our Swamiji, can feed the cows with Jaggery , Vegetables etc .
